FLORIDA CAMINO FOUNDATION

CONNECTING FLORIDA’S FIRST FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH

ABOUT

With the goal of connecting pilgrims to Florida’s first footsteps of faith, the Florida Camino Foundation provides resources to establish and pilgrimage routes across Florida. A private trust organization, the Florida Camino Foundation serves as the conduit for developing sustainable pilgrim pathways by connecting communities, charities, churches, and volunteers.

CURRENT PROJECTS

PILGRIM PASSPORT

Planned for retail sale; mid-2021.

PILGRIM PATCH

Planned for retail sale; mid-2021.

PILGRIM CERTIFICATE

Planned as complimentary item; mid-2021.

AMELIA ISLAND WAY

Route development and GPS tracks for the Amelia Island Way are largely complete and pilgrims have begun walking this route. We expect to publish GPS tracks for pilgrims on an opt-in basis in mid-2021.

We are currently working with merchants along the route to provide stamps for the Pilgrim Passport. Discussions are underway with the various state, county, and local governments regarding wayfinding, including the placement of key signage, decals, or directional arrows to support pilgrims. The Florida Camino Foundation would like to host an inaugural pilgrimage in 2021.

Outstanding funding needs for this route currently total $17,200.00.

FUTURE PROJECTS

ROUTE DEVELOPMENT

The Florida Camino Foundation is seeking community and faith-based partners to assist in the development of two new Camino routes: a southern path (2022) and a western route (2023) connecting several original missions to St. Augustine.
